So this is the UCLA campus, nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains in the neighborhood of Westwood. Nearly every square inch of the campus is crammed with academic buildings, dorms, and gardens. The flowers bloom all year round and the outdoor pools, where I once shared a lane with Owen Wilson, are open even in winter. Hollywood is five miles to the east, the Pacific Ocean is five miles to the west, and downtown Los Angeles is five miles to the south. You’ve most likely seen the campus before in movies.
