On Wednesday night Norm, KD, and I checked out the downtown. Tempe is a close satellite of Phoenix, a fabricated suburb built to serve Arizona State University. There is an abundant selection of the usual mall bar type spots like Ruby Tuesdays and the like, Starbucks coffee bars, and a few indie record and clothing shops. At the edge of town there was a Lake lined with a bike trail and lights going off towards downtown Phoenix. It was quite a place; usually scoring in the top ten party schools in the annual Playboy review.
