Old Rag Mountain

On a Friday afternoon in September right before the leaves started turning Beth and I took the hour and a half drive to Madison County in Shenandoah National Park. Getting to the peak involves a moderately difficult three mile hike uphill over a few rock scrambles to 3291 feet. The day was sunny and in the 70’s at the bottom, but a slight drizzle came through towards the top and we found ourselves in the chilly clouds, although it was still possible to see miles in every direction.
