My New Pad

I scored a swell studio in Weyburn Terrace, a UCLA project aimed at attracting grad students who may be uncomfortable with the housing costs of Westwood and other nearby hoods. For a place of my very own the size of a hotel room I pay $900 a month, with utilities including cable internet and cable tv. It’s been a bit of an embarrassment to the University so far with the delays in construction. When I first came out to LA I had to stay in temp housing for a couple weeks while they finished my building at Magnolia Court. Now in February the whole complex is still only half finished. At first I made due without a stove or showerhead for a few days, but the place is still real nice. I’ve never lived anywhere that nobody else has lived in; you could smell the drywall when I got here. I’m about a mile from the GSEIS building where my classes are, and there’s a free shuttle bus when I don’t feel like walking to my morning library science classes. Live is good!
