Garmish

Garmisch is part of the combined entity of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, the setting for the 1936 Winter Olympics amongst other things. Partenkirche was originally established by the Romans. The nearby Zugspitze is Germany’s tallest mountain at 9718 feet. The area is most famous for the skiing, but is also an excellent for outdoor summer fun such as hiking, mountain climbing, and hang gliding. There’s a charming pedestrian friendly downtown with shops and restaurants, but at the same time you can hear cowbells jingle as the farmers bring their livestock back from pasture. There are a large number of Americans living in the area. One night were hit a pig roast and bonfire party with bands and kegs in the foothills outside and yodeled at the moon to hear the echo…
