Back to LA

Days 13/14: Friday/Saturday August 23/24th, 2003

On the way back to LA I drove past the Salton Sea on the Sonny Bono memorial highway. I took the wrong turn at some point and ended up taking the scenic route around the east side, getting stopped at border control stations and stuck behind slow moving farm vehicles on a two-lane highway. I took these few pictures as the sun set. By midnight I made it to Indio and checked into a Motel 6.

On Saturday afternoon I made it back to AS's apartment where she was throwing a bbq party on her rooftop. That night I put my camera away after taking this picture of the palm trees of Venice Beach as the sunset. The next day I flew back to Washington via Chicago. The trip had been an adventure. The fun wasn't so much in the places I went, but the people who were there. At this point in my life I feel fortunate to be able to catch up with people in such far-flung places. Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends...

That's all for now...keep on looking for the diamonds in the sidewalk.
