4th of July Weekend
I had quite the action packed 4th of July weekend back home in DC, right after graduating from UCLA and going to New Orleans for the American Library Association convention. On the way to Great Falls Beth showed me the Madeira school, where she worked as a dorm monitor after college. My friends SG and KG just built a house near the Appalachian Trail and we caught up with them as well. My Aunt was down from Mt Kisko, New York and my dog Kerwak turned 17. On the actual 4th of July me, Beth, and my brother went with my dad to one of his friend’s house, a cannon manufacturer and antique military equipment restoration expert who has a farm with horses in rural Maryland. As you can imagine, the fireworks were impressive and I got to practice my musketry skills. Beth, her roomie, and I made it back to the Key Bridge in DC just in time for the fireworks there. The 4th is bigger back East with the cradle of the revolution and what not; out in LA it’s not such a big deal.
